Biography Jorge Castillo Casalderrey, was born in Pontevedra. In 1934 his family emigrated to Argentina for political reasons. In 1956, Castle, returns to Spain. Since 1962 the artist has divided his residence between Barcelona and New York, going for long periods in his home of Ibiza. In the center of Europe, Latin america and the united States, Jorge Castillo is considered one of the artists most renowned in the international scene. Along with Matta and Lam, is one of the great painters of the avant-garde Surrealist and Formalist Spanish, as well as an excellent printmaker, and sculptor. Surrealism, which leave many of his creations, also near in times of a certain hyper-realism, very personal. The work of Jorge Castle figure in museums all over the world, from EE.USA to Jerusalem. Santiago de Compostela is the home of its permanent museum.
