Albert Ràfols-Casamada (Barcelona, 2 February 1923 - 17 December 2009) was a poet and painter Spanish.

Biography
He was born February 2, 1923 in the city of Barcelona. He began to study architecture but abandoned it to devote himself full-time to the plastic arts thanks to the support of his father, Albert Ràfols i Cullerés. In 1950 he was awarded a scholarship to travel to France, where he settled to Paris until 1954 with his wife, the painter Maria Girona i Benet.
In 1980 he was awarded the National Prize for Plastic Arts awarded by the Ministry of Culture and in 2003 with the National Award of Visual Arts of Catalonia, granted by the Government. In 1983 he was awarded with the Creu de Sant Jordi and in 1991 with the Legion of Honor by the French Government. It is an honorary academic of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando.
Died 17 December 2009.
Artistic work
Was initiated in the pictorial art within the artistic current postexpresionista and figurativista; later his work moved within the current abstract. Without being able to be categorized, its evolution has also been reflected in the world of theatre with the creation of set designs and decorations. Room Information Desk of the House of the City of Barcelona has decorated their vaults for abstract paintings about the Four Seasons.

In 2001 the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA) paid tribute to him with the realization of a retrospective Albert Ràfols-Casamada. 1953-2001.
