Joan Martí began his training at the age of thirteen, when it is admitted as an apprentice in the studio of the painter he did Valls. Since its inception displayed a clear preference for figurative art. Then joined the School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi, in Barcelona, where you will have as teachers to Satasusagna and García Morales. In 1956, he made the military service and is intended to Mallorca, where he had the opportunity to meet the painter Hermenegildo Anglada Camarasa. In 1959 he finished his studies of Fine Arts and made his debut individually in the gallery Atena Barcelona. In 1960 he obtained a scholarship to continue their training in Italy, a country that will travel around visiting the most important artistic centres. Travel then to Paris, where resides a time, and establishes contact with various local artists. After a period in Sant Gallen, Switzerland, in 1961, Martí returned to Spain and held the which will be its second exhibition in the gallery Jaimes Barcelona (1963). From this time held various personal samples in different points of the Peninsula. In 1986, he moved to Rome to study Cinecittá, where he took notes of Placido Domingo and the other actors of the film “Othello”. The result was a set of twenty-five works displayed in a touring exhibition around the world (1992). Attracted from the beginning by the human figure, embodied in scenes of daily life, the painter cultivates also the landscape, both natural and urban. Has exercised also a outstanding work as a portraitist, painting prominent figures such as the king Juan Carlos I, Jordi Pujol and his wife Marta Ferrusola, Plácido Domingo, Josep Pla, Joan Prayed and a long etcetera. This painter has two pronounced features: the subtlety of your stroke, which allows you to approach any model or scenario as if it does with a scalpel, and the bright manifestation of his colorful, full of vitality. In his works, charcoal, watercolors, or oil paintings, manifests itself in a realism with almost magical based on the careful observation and reflective of the natural model.Throughout her career, Joan Martí has been awarded the First International Prize of Tossa de Mar, the First Prize of the Centenary of “La Vanguardia”, the Van Gogh drawing, the International Palamós, Cala Canyellas, Calella de Mar, Hospitalet, the Feast of Tura, Spanish Town, Cornella, Arenys de Munt, Mataró and Manresa, among many others.
