Vilà trained as a painter first in the School of Vic, his hometown, and then in the Alemany in Barcelona and in Fine Arts of Olot. Finally will also study with Miguel Humbert and Javier Noguels. In 1932 he began to be known through competitions and group exhibitions, and in 1941 she held her first personal exhibition at the gallery Barcino in the Catalan capital. Since then held many others in various cities of Spain, and will be awarded the third medal in the National of Madrid, 1948, for his work “El mercat de Vic”. He was also awarded a prize in the competition of landscape of Llavaneras and the Gold Medal Masriera (1953). Josep Vilà cultivated a landscape often focused on effects of water, stroke slick and simplified. Her works are part of private collections various, and is also present in the National Museum Center of Art Queen Sofia.
