In 1950 he exhibited for the first time in the Gallery Garden with success. Then, he participates in a collective exhibition of watercolor paintings in the Sala Busquets.

From 1953 he starts working as a graphic designer, who achieved numerous awards. In 1960, he formed the borreguito of the brand Norit,2 becoming one of the forerunners of graphic design in our country.3

After having, during 25 years, the world of advertising you decide to leave this field to focus again on the painting. It is set in Altafulla (Tarragona), converting this population and its surrounding area in the protagonists of many of his canvases. Although his first paintings bearing the signature Room Llorens, from this moment you will sign as Josep Sala.

His painting, almost exclusively dedicated to the landscape is characterized by the originality of the frame, a freehold of the drawing, together with the use of a chromatic palette very small, manages to give his work a character quite defined.

During his last years, his work evolves into abstraction by taking the color role on the drawing.

His paintings have been exhibited at national and international level. Also, in the year 1993 the Ministry of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalunya dedicated to him a retrospective exhibition.
