Torroella was an artist primarily self-taught, though for a time he studied with the painter Vidal Pat. Held his first solo exhibition in 1948, in Villafranca del Penedés. Also participated in various collective exhibitions and competitions in artistic, being awarded in 1967, with the Award of Watercolor Villa de Palamós. At his death, his widow donated the legacy of Torroella to the municipality of Palamós, with the aim of contributing to the promotion of the arts and the recognition of the important local painter. Currently, the town Hall of Palamós prepares the creation of the art space Ezekiel Torroella in the chapel of the Carmen. In this way, the bulk of the work of Torroella is preserved in the Municipal Fund of Art of Palamós, although it is also represented in the Museum of the Fishing of the city and in various private collections.
In this canvas, Torroella performed a magnificent study of light that determines a ground plane built from plans in-depth. The sky takes up less than half of the box, but nevertheless playing a major role thanks to the expressive work of the clouds, through which it is filtered clear light rays that impinge on the landscape. Following the rules of perspective, atmospheric, and taking above all into account the real model, the painter focuses more vivid colors in the foreground, blurring shapes and colors in the distance.
