Rafael Durán began his training with his uncle, Rafael Benet, who learns his conception of color. Thanks to the guidance of Manolo Hugué and Rafael Llimona started his career as a painter, around the year 1946. She debuted individually in the sala Vayreda in Barcelona in 1958, and two years later began his collaboration with the sala Parés, with the that continues to work today. Throughout his life he would alternate stays in Amsterdam, Paris and Collioure (France). Has held exhibitions in Spain, Andorra, France, united States, United Kingdom and Belgium, and among his numerous prizes include the Prix Diputación of Barcelona (1967), the Flowers and Gardens of the Artistic Circle of Barcelona (1973) and Henri to Form the Société Nationale des Beaux Arts in Paris (1980). His favourite themes are landscapes, seascapes and still-lifes. The style of Duran combines the values of painting with a certain decorativeness of mediterranean air, which results in images of a great artistic beauty.
