Norakuro (のらくろ) is a Japanese comedic manga series created by Suihō Tagawa in 1931 and published by Kōdansha in Shōnen Kurabu. Norakuro remained in different versions until the 1990s. The main character, Norakuro, or Norakuro-kun, is a black and white dog inspired by Felix the Cat. The name "Norakuro" is an abbreviation of "norainu" (野良犬, stray dog) and "Kurokichi" (黒吉, the dog's name, which literally means "black fortune"). Norakuro had a strong influence on Machiko Hasegawa, the author of Sazae-san, who learned from its author Suihō Tagawa, as well as on Hiromu Arakawa, the author of Fullmetal Alchemist. There is an excerpt that appears in the sixth anthology of Kramer's Ergot Comics, which is the only example of Tagawa's work published in English.
