Vives Fierro started at the age of fifteen his studies in the Llotja of Barcelona, and then continue their training in the Artistic Circle of Sant Lluc. In the latter he was a pupil of Jose Maria Garrut and the sculptor Thomas Bel. In 1961 he moved to Paris, and the following year he debuted individually in Cartagena. Two years later he held his first personal exhibition in Barcelona, at the Sala Rovira. From 1970 resides seasonally in London, where he found subjects for many of his paintings, in addition to organizing several samples (1971, 1973). Since the eighties re-focus its work in the city of Barcelona, and in the mid-nineties will be in Havana the theme of his painting. He has exhibited all over the world, in cities such as London, Geneva, Dusseldorf, Paris, Montevideo, Athens, New York, Havana or Beirut, in addition to on a regular basis in Madrid and Barcelona since the sixties. Vives Fierro is an artist of versatile uses different techniques in his paintings, although during the last few years has opted for the combination of oil and collage. Developed a figurative style influenced by post-impressionism, focused on urban issues or suburbiales that have given him fame, but also is dedicated to the landscape. Within his production as a graphic artist can highlight his posters of a commercial nature and a memorial. His work has been recognized with various awards including the Gold Medal and the Prize Gerona Painting (1979), the Ricard Canals (1980), the Clau de Barcelona (1998), the Cross of Sant Jordi (2002) Award and the Joan Fuster Essay (2003). In 1997 he received the Prize of the Generalitat de Catalunya for the design of the “Joia of the Sardana”. His work can be found in the Olympic Museum of Lausanne, the Reina Sofía museum of Athens, the Contemporary Art of Montevideo, the FC Barcelona or the Foundation Caixa de Pensions, among many other public and private collections.
