The proposal for the automotive industry of the artist, Jaime Gili

The artist Jaime Gili, a passionate force the limits of the painting out of the canvas, it was decided to analyse the relationship between the speed and the color. Thus was born Nomonochrome a project that mixes art with passion automotive.

“The customer can choose any color, as long as it is black”. The phrase picked up by Henry Ford in his own biography in 1922, and unfortunately, the phobia for the color to remain stuck like gum to the automotive industry, where almost one hundred years after the gray, black and white remain the most common colors. Despite this -or because of it - the cars have attracted from the beginning to certain artists, either as objects or as ideas, in a story that begins with the Italian futurists and the Bugatti Type 35 that Sonia Delaunay painted in 1924.

One of these artists is the venezuelan Jaime Gili, who is recognized for making a painting that investigates the color beyond the limits of the canvas. Since more than a decade ago has been exhibited internationally works that include and span the space and the architecture, dinamizándola, exploiting it. Has done murals in private residences and in public buildings, and works of public art that take up entire buildings in several cities of the world, and always in his work there has been an interest for the speed and its representation: a research part of this root futurist of the early twentieth century and the cinetismo of the 50's. If to this we join a family relationship with the automotive industry, we understand as Nomonochrome is a project that came in it in a natural way.

NOMONOCHROME

Nomonochrome Project is the proposal that the venezuelan artist based in London, Jaime Gili, has made for the fair. The project was born out of the tradition of abstract painting modern 50's and the concept of "synthesis of arts" applied to sports cars vintage.

The idea is to perform, to paint, about ten cars in as many years, of which there are two. The Volkswagen Golf Mk1 Cabriolet 1992 and the BMW 335i of 2007, we will continue in this project, a Jaguar XJS, a Seat 600 and a Mini Cooper S, each one with its own character and special interest, each one with his painting created specifically. To make them, Jaime Gili works with one of the best, the specialist in restoration of car bodies, classic Toni Chinchilla AMT, in Barcelona. The initial idea was simple, and it all started with a list of classic cars that has been increasing with newer cars, here come the complex plans that the impeccable execution and expertise of AMT, leads to a result which is mind-boggling.

Gili has said ironically that I should start this series, as I couldn't stay seated to wait for that invitation to be part of the program Art Cars from the German carmaker BMW. That program, obviously a source of inspiration for the project, was born, as Jaime Gili, around 1972, and by him have been past artists such as Frank Stella, Alexander Calder or Andy Warhol, who were invited to work on the bodies of models of BMW contemporary to each one of them. The project Nomonochrome, seeks to work in exchange on old classics or recent that have a special interest for him and his own biography, but is open to be opened in case of interesting proposals.

The design and line of Volkswagen Golf Cabrio mk1, the first project, has attracted Gili from always. The work is tailored specifically to the straight lines of the car, highlighting some features and creating new points of visual tension. The color palette makes reference to the beginnings of modern abstraction, and the lines -in appearance rectasfluyen perfectly on the surface of the car. The work is symmetrical in your drawing, but not in color. This convertible takes you to another level the art on wheels, and for being the first of the series will always have a special value to the artist. On the other hand, the BMW 335i, has had a longer process of design which is reflected in the multiplicity of points of view that it has won the car as a work of art. Soft curves in some cases have been highlighted, and in other guise, the iconic front confused with their symmetry, for each part of the car has a complex balance visual with the rest, full of unique details, even in its interior.

The unmistakable work of Jaime Gili has been contextualized as continuing a tradition of Latin american geometric abstraction, and continuing in the will of integration of the arts, signed by architects such as J. L. Sert, and Carlos Raul Villanueva in the 1950s. For them, the visual arts should be in possible to get out of their confines scholars to get closer to the day-to-day, and to lift life beyond the museums. Gili was born in Caracas, where this integration of the arts has examples abundant, and currently lives in London, where he continues to develop. He studied at the Royal College of Art, and also in Caracas, Barcelona and Paris. He has had solo exhibitions in London, New York, Miami, Bogota, Caracas, Barcelona, Madrid and Zurich, among other cities. His works of public art can be seen in London, Miami, Portland (Maine) and Caracas.

BMW E90

Models

As the first model of the series was produced in march of 2005, the sedan (E90) on the market. In September 2005, said in the BMW Touring version of family (E91) has been introduced. The 3 Series Coupe (E92) was introduced in September 2006 and the convertible (E93) followed in march of 2007. With exterior dimensions 4,53 to 4,58 meters, the 3 Series is roughly the time that the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, but shorter than the Audi A4. Design

In addition to changes in aprons front and rear, the hood received two calls lines of characters. the mirrors were a european standard designed correspondingly larger. Engines

Both models were originally developed as separate as the series 4, so that the body, chassis and the interior are compared in an independent series E90/E91. Before the launch of sales, however (E46 coupe and convertible) is decided in favour of the existing image with the clientele of the series M3 to the market the new series as series 3 in order not to damage the mark M3.
