This watch elizabethan wall stands out for its wooden ebanizada, which contrasts with a delicate decoration in metal, mother-of-pearl and enamel. Type of parts were very needed during the reign of Isabel II of Spain (1830-1904), hence the name given.
Wall clock signed in Barcelona by Carlos Wehrle stands out for its combination of materials. The sphere, round and made of alabaster, presents the legends “Charles Wehrle” and “Barcelona”, numbering in romans inside enamel pieces adorned with gold metal hands and fantasy. The molding metal that surrounds the sphere has a decoration of eggs interspersed with elements pseudovegetales. To the outside, and made in bronze with enamels of blue, there is a decoration of vegetal elements in the corners. The wood is presented ebanizada to give a higher colour contrast with the decor and the area.
The call marquetry Boulle, which combines wood and metal, was used during the so-called elizabethan style, like the marquetry of woods such as lemongrass or rosewood. Stands out in the same the influence of elements taken from classical Antiquity. Is intended to give an appearance of a certain lavishness without reaching over ends with the decor. The shape of the watches of isabel's faction was very varied, having in common an important use of marquetry in metal or wood, and being the example that makes this lot one of the variants more simple and elegant.
