Rolex was founded by Hans Wilsdorf, who has worked to achieve the precision of wristwatches in the early TWENTIETH century, without neglecting the elegance. In 1910, a Rolex was awarded the first certificate of chronometric swiss official granted by the Official Watch Rating Centre to a wristwatch, and four year after the Observatory in English, Kew was awarded another certificate, which until now had only received marine chronometers. Sample of research work and the care of the precision was the patent, in 1931, the Perpetual rotor, the precursor of the automatic watches of today. However, it has never shelved the design and care of the materials, giving rise to works that stand out for their luxury and reliability.
