Monet-Goyon (MG) is a motorcycle brand French based on April 2, 1917 by Joseph Monet (engineer) and Adrien Goyon (rich heir) of Macon , in Saône-et-Loire .

History

  • 1916:
    • Joseph Monet (Engineer) and Adrien Goyon (heir of a family of Macon) combine to make fly without a motor, in order to make the mobility of the many victims maimed of the war of 14-18.
  • April 02, 1917 :
    • the firm Macon Monet and Goyon is created and specializes in vehicles of the sick, wounded and maimed: the tricycle.
  • 1919:
    • In the first motor 117 cc, mounted in a "wheel of unity", manufactured under license british "Autowheel" or "Auto-wheel", it is adaptable to all bikes.
    • Thereafter, it is mounted in the "Automouche", a tricycle, and then used in the "Vélauto".

  • 1922
    • Monet and Goyon obtained the license for the manufacture of a two-stroke 270 cc engine Villiers to replace the 117 cc in Vélauto the Automouche as well as the motorcycles are more traditional.
  • 1924
    • Monet and Goyon a sports model, the "ZS" engine Villiers 175 cc dual exhaust.
  • 1925
    • The latter receives Villiers Special said Brooklands TT equipped with pots "bean".
    • This bike will bring numerous titles:
      • Speed France Champion (1924, 25, 26, 27)
      • Grand Prix of France (1927, 28, 29)
      • Grand Prize of the FMU (1924, 25, 27, 29)
      • Victories in the Mont Ventoux (1924, 25, 28, 29)
      • 20 world records in 1924, 25 and 29.
    • First four-stroke engines MAG built under license. These are 350 cm 3 semi-collapsed.
  • 1926
    • Joseph Monet died of tuberculosis . His brother, Marcel succeeded him.
  • 1927
    • New engines of 350 cc and 500 cc four-stroke brand MAG.
  • 1929:
    • Disappearance of motorcycles of the belt.
    • Addition of a 250cc semi-knocked out.
  • 1930:
    • The company bought the brand Koehler-Escoffier, created in 1912.
  • 1931
    • Creation of a side to 350 cc.
  • 1932:
    • Bikes start of auxiliary motor (BMA) of the new law in force back. Monet-Goyon creates a performance engine 98 cm3.
  • 1935
    • Manufacture of Monet-Goyon for the French army in 350 cc and 500 cc.
  • 1937
    • Appearance of a rear suspension, as "Champion of France" in the 350 cc and 500 cc.
  • 1938
    • Marcel Monet is turned off in turn.
  • 09 1939:
    • The Second World War broke out, the company offers sidecars for the army.
  • 1940:
    • Adrien Goyon, then 82 years of age, gave way as general director of the company Monet-Goyon.
  • 1946:
    • The death of the technical director Raymond Guiguet
    • Adrien Goyon (CEO 88 years old) does not have a principal technical goods to your side.
    • The production is reduced to 100cc 2-stroke, 250 cc and 350 cc 4-stroke in that they added a telescopic fork.
    • The catalogue of the brand is considered somewhat old-fashioned.
  • 1950:
    • Financial situation of the company improved briefly with the arrival of the engine of 125cc 2-stroke Villiers.
  • 1953:
    • In January, Adrien Goyon dies at 93 years old.
    • Villiers S2G engine of 98 cm3 (2 speeds) allows the company to continue.
    • This success gives a respite to the enterprise, and allows the engineering work of the new 125cc engine.
  • 1958:
    • The signing of a contract with the company to make Motostandard sierpes lawn mowers and small motor boat that still carry the name of Monet-Goyon.
  • 1959:
  • The closure of the factory of Monet and Goyon.
