The car offered

Mercedes Benz. 230. 1940. (Original model).

As you can see in the pictures above, this car is an exception that maintains the brand of the time. Vehicle of a particular collection, for different reasons, goes on sale. Besides the required maintenance, the car has been overhauled completely by exposing it in rallies and events.

For enthusiasts casual, the models of Mercedes-Benz of the period immediately preceding the war can seem quite confusing, as many of the same model designations are used in different chassis and bodies. The Mercedes-Benz W153 was a luxury automobile of average range, typically for Mercedes at that time, are offered in a variety of configurations of the automobile factory, and one of several vehicles known simply as the "230". Is sold together with the old W143 from 1938, and production ceased in 1941, but was reborn after the war as the 170S. The body styles included a sedan, Cabriolet A two-seat, Cabriolet B of the four-seat / two-door and Cabriolet D of four doors / four seats.

In comparison with the W143, the W153 had a more modern style and complete with a trunk integrated. The chassis of the W153 was derived from the previous automobile, with front and rear suspension independent brakes drum hydraulic on all four wheels. The six-cylinder engine displaced 2.3 liters (hence the name "230") and breathed through a pair of carbs, with only 55 horsepower; thanks in part to the low compression ratio of 6.6: 1. The output power was almost the same as that of the W143, although with a little more refinement and torque, while power is fed to the rear wheels through a transmission is fully synchronized four-speed. The performance is understandably relaxed, but the refinement and quality make the car feel much more dynamic than suggested its roots prior to the war. The policies of the government of Germany affected the production because Mercedes had no choice but to support the war effort, and as such, are only produced 4,264 cars until 1943.

This W153 230B Cabriolet B is from 1940 and is a very attractive of this rare and desirable Mercedes-Benz before the war. Originally delivered to a swiss client, its history has been well documented until our days. It presents very well with its fender and hood of black, with lateral cream color and the interior in burgundy-maroon. Wheels with white band and cream with a touch of color add a nice touch, and the exterior is very well detailed with accessories of that time as a focus of hood, a beautiful and large lamp fog amber mounted in the center of the grill in a unique bow, support. The paint presents beautifully, with reflections perfect and a good fit of the panel in the body. The chrome is also in a good state, with a grid precious and pods headlights completely chrome that form the centerpiece of the front. All lamps lenses ribbed correct, including the fog light large and rare.

In its day, the 230 was a car for the client financially comfortable. This fact is reflected in the luxurious interior original, with wear and tear visible) with wide wood trim and leather upholstery. The theme of the painting in two tones is transferred to the cabin, with the dashboard to play with the upholstery that enhances the colors of the body. The woven carpet square German proper covers the floor and the large rear seat features a center armrest-folding. The signature of the Cabriolet B is the large-folding soft top, which allows plenty of space for four passengers, whether in the upper or lower position.

The force comes through-the-line six-cylinder 2.3-liter that looks good and works well. The engine compartment is tidy and pleasantly detailed. This example presents a four-speed manual with change of floor, and the full synchronization makes it very easy to drive in all situations. A striking aspect of our 230 Cab B is the large trunk where the spare wheel needed a space shared with a jerry can of time and a set of tools. It is a wonderful collection of accessories of that era only serve to enhance the charm of this beautiful car tourism.

With a known history that dates back to 1940, a full complement of accessories time wonderful and an originality of a very high quality, this 230 Cabriolet B is a Mercedes Benz before the war, very desirable and rare that it would be very suitable for display or travel. It is a pleasure to offer it for sale.
