Founded in Barcelona the firm Machinery and Transport Items (Maquitrans), which is dedicated to the repair of trolleybuses and trams. This company decided to create a section for the construction of tricycles, motorized division. Also dabbled with a scooter twin-cylinder two-stroke and 188,5 cc, which never came to be manufactured in series.
In Spain, the Ducati Italian arriving to Madrid by Alejandro Maifava, that mattered the Cucciolo. Later, in 1955, the house Cliper, Barcelona, imports the Cucciolo and trciclos of division, and in 1956 he began importing the model 98 in the two versions.
In 1957, Maquitrans and Cliper contact to begin to co-construct motorcycles. Maquitrans provides capital and facilities and Cliper knowledge of the terrain to tread (the owner of Cliper was Eusebio Andreu Virgili university, one of the few who understood bikes in Mototrans) and a lot of enthusiasm.
In 1958 is the joint venture that is called MOTOTRANS. Equipped with a number of facilities in the calle Almogávares of Barcelona with all the machinery necessary for riding motorcycles, and get a higher quality (although some parts still bring Italy). From that time cease to import the cucciolo and the model 98.
In 1963 Mototrans manufactured the 250 Deluxe, a bike developed from the Italian Diana 250, but I changed the measurements of the piston diameter 74 mm and stroke of 57.8 mm (preferred Taglioni) for a few more square 66 mm by 69 mm Is the first show of independence of Mototrans respect to the Italian designs; they are only exported 5 units to the market English color black and finished in silver. Mototrans begins in that same year, 1963, to manufacture the motorcycles of Ducati Italy in Spain, due to the importance of this sector, and presents in the Exhibition a model of opened chassis, the Piuma, and other more sporty, the 48 sport, both with changes of 3 gears at the fist and 48 cc.
In 1965 extending the facility of Mototrans, since it has a goal of making 19000 machines manufactured per year (most of which were mopeds). In the spring of this year the new facilities are ready and Ducati loses one of its champions most important: Virgili is leaving the company because of differences with the board. In 1966 he presented the two models that replaced the 125 Sport, and the TS: models 160 cc versions of TS and Sport, which are basically the same, but with the increase of displacement of 40 cc, and other colors.
