Harley-Davidson Road King

The Harley-Davidson FL series of motorcycles, introduced in 1941 with an engine Knucklehead 74 cubic inches, refers to the bikes larger, touring in the lineup of Harley, as well as the Softail models. For model year 1994 Harley-Davidson replaced the FLHS Electra Glide Sport with the FLHR Harley-Davidson Road King. The original engine Panhead FLH Harley-Davidson Electra Glide introduced in 1965, and takes it namesake from electric start model.

The original FLHR Harley-Davidson Road King was powered by a 1340 cc engine Evolution V-Twin Harley-Davidson. The new Harley-Davidson Road King featured a number of improvements on the Electra Glide that it was replacing, including a set of cables enhanced with waterproof connectors, saddle bags detachable windshield and, and relations of transmission higher. Other features of the Harley-Davidson Road King include forks, air-adjustable, front disc brakes doubles and a passenger seat that could easily be removed. So the Harley-Davidson Road King is positioned as a cruise of the combination and the machine tour.

In 1999, the Harley-Davidson Road King, as well as other models of Harley-Davidson, came from powered by the new engine Twin Cam 88 factory. The name of the engine came from the addition of second cam to actuate the push rods for the opening and closing of the intake and exhaust valves, thus the new engine had two cams, one cam with two lobes for two valves of each cylinder, in comparison to the Evolution of the use of the motor of a single chamber with four lobes. The gears that drive the cams in the motor of evolution were replaced with a chain in the engine is a Twin Cam. The 88 represents the displacement of the engine in cubic inches (1447cc). The engine also incorporates other improvements such as oil jets positioned to spray the underside of the pistons to help cool the engine, and the increased area of the cooling fins. In 2000 Harley-Davidson offered a cu 95. in. kit of great caliber, that the increase in Twin Cam displacement 88 engine to 1550cc.

In 2004 we introduced the FLHRSI Harley-Davidson Road King Custom. The order included bags hard leather, wide handlebars, a headlight swept up by the wind and dropped the rear suspension. For the year 2007 it was time for another update of the engine, this time being the basic engine the Same Twin Cam 96. as the Twin Cam 88, but the displacement of 96 cubic inches (1584cc).

The Harley-Davidson Road King enters its 17th year of production in 2011 and, as with most models of Harley-Davidson, the king of the road remains largely the same as it was when introduced. The King's Road is also widely used in the police and fire departments in the united States, as well as foreign countries.
