First major redesign post-wwii General Motors, the series Design Progress was presented as a design that is bigger, stronger, and more elegant. First available on Saturday June 28 1947 these trucks were sold with various minor changes over the years to the march 25, 1955, when the series Task Force trucks replaced the aging model Advanced Design.
From 1947 until 1955, Chevrolet trucks were number one in sales in the united States.
While GMC used this interface, and in a degree somewhat lower in the cabin in all of its trucks except for the cab overs , there are three sizes of this truck: the capacity of tonnes-half, three-quarter and full-fledged in short wheelbase and long.
Differences
1947 - gasoline tank filler neck on the passenger side of the bed. There are No ventilation windows in the doors. Emblems on the side of the chapel read "Chevrolet" with "Thriftmaster" or "Loadmaster" under it. Serial numbers:. EP ½ ton, ton, ¾ ER, and 1 ton.
1948 - manual Transmission shifter now mounted on column instead of floor. Code serial numbers: FP ½ ton, FR ¾ ton, and FS of 1 ton.
1949 Early - The gas tank now mounted upright behind seat in cab; aft filler neck of the knob of the passenger-side door. New codes of serial number: GP ½ - ton, GR ¾ ton, & GS 1 ton.
Late 1949 - emblems on the side of the chapel no longer read "Thriftmaster" or "Loadmaster", but are now numbers that designate cargo capacity: 3100 on ½ ton, 3600 ¾ ton, 3800 on 1 ton. Codes serial numbers are the same as in the beginning of 1949.
1950 - telescopic shock absorbers replace lever-type action. In the past year by the ventilation hood side of the driver, its handle is now flat steel, not Maroon knob as in previous years. New codes of serial number: HP ½ ton, HR ¾ ton, & HS 1 ton.
1951 - Doors now have windows for ventilation. At mid-year, the change of the bed 9 on board 8 boards per bed. The last year for 80 MPH speedometer, handles in the handle of the window chrome, and control of windshield wipers chrome. New codes of serial number: JP ½ ton, JR ¾ ton, & JS 1 ton.
1952 - handles of the outside doors are now push button type in comparison with the previous style of bending. Speedometer now reads to 90 kilometers per hour and dash is painted instead of chrome. At mid-year, Chevrolet stops using the designation 3100-6400 on the hood and the changes in the window and brown knobs wiper. New codes of serial number: KP ½ ton, KR ¾ ton, & KS 1 ton.
1953 - last year for the 216 in 3 six online . Emblems on the side of the chapel now only read 3100, 3600, 3800, 4400, 6400, or in large print. Identification plate on back of the door now blue in color with letters of silver (previous models used black with letters of silver). Last year, the use of wooden blocks as aids to bed. New codes of serial number: H ½ ton, J ¾ ton, & L 1 ton.
1954 - Only year of the important design changes. Windshield now curved one piece glass without the center strip of vertical ground. Steering wheel revised. Dashboard revised. Rails of the cargo bed, previously angled, now horizontal. Tail lights round instead of rectangular. Grille changed from five horizontal planks for the design of rails commonly known as a "bull-nose" grille, similar to the modern grid truck Dodge. Engine now 235 in 3 straight-6 . Codes serial numbers unchanged since 1953. Hydramatic automatic transmission is available for the first time as a paying for option.
1955 First Series - Identical to the model of the year 1954, with the exception of the emblems of the side of the hood redesigned and modern open driveshaft in place of enclosed torque tube . Codes serial number unchanged from 1953 and 1954.
