MOCICLETA MONTESA COMANDO 175cc. 1964.

Montesa was a factory of bikes Spanish (also bicycle) who was born in 1944, thanks to Pedro Permanyer and Francisco Xavier Bultó. Since the first models, the successes in racing Enduro and rallies managed to get the sales, with the most popular being on the road the Brio 80 in the decade of the 50. In the 60's and 70's the company continued to grow, thanks especially to an engine of 175 cc which, for 1960, would be used in the Impala sports more advanced then and would be the basis of future investigations of Montesa.

In 1961 he placed the first stone of the factory in Esplugues del Llobregat while Leopoldo Milá was working in the project Impala. The first three prototypes of this model were tested in a race through Africa from Cape Town to Cairo in 1962. Some 20,000 miles in one hundred days. The new bike had from the start a great success, both commercial and sporting, and there were several models. In the 60's were manufactured at the same time, and only Montesa Impala, model Impala, the Impala Sport, the Command (to which belongs this machine), and, for the first time, a Moto-Cross series (Impala Cross).

In 1981 the crisis in Spain caused Montesa had to ask for a loan to the government and sell shares to Honda, a point from which we could say that Montesa (who happens to be called Montesa Honda) remains as a subsidiary of the japanese brand. In 1992-1993 it was the last Mountain of truth: the model of 1994, had many components of Honda, which each time I had more shares in the Spanish company.

To appreciate the care with which it has recovered the original appearance of the model in the present work, it can be seen the Montesa Impala 1963, the Museu de la Moto in Barcelona, for example.
