The Jaguar XK150 is a sports car produced by Jaguar between 1957 and 1961. It replaced the XK140 .
Initially, it was available in Head Coupé (FHC) and Drophead Coupé (DHC) versions fixed. The Roadster (XK150 OTS - Open Two-Seat) was launched in 1958. The rear seats minimum were fitted in the coupés .
History
Despite bearing a similar family with the XK120 and XK140 , the XK150 was radically revised. A windshield of a single piece, replaced the split screen, and the touch line no longer dropped so deeply at the doors. The hood widened she opened up the wings and on the Roadster the windscreen frame was moved back 4 inches (102 mm) to make the bonnet longer. The car was available at various times in Red, Pearl Grey, White, Indigo Blue, Claret, Cotswold Blue, Black, Gray Mist, Sherwood Green, Carmen Red, British Racing Green, Cornish grey, brown, and Imperial.
Board walnut veneer of the XK140 was replaced by one trimmed in leather. In the first coupes Drophead, the instrument panel's central aluminum, which was discontinued after June 1958, had a pattern of X engraving similar to the early 3.8 E-type. Doors thinner gave more interior space. In the parking lights front, that they were above the wings ( fenders ), a little red light reminded the driver the lights were on.
Suspension and chassis were very similar to the XK140, and the steering was by rack-and-pinion; power steering was not offered. The engine series, the similar to the XK140, but with an new "B" head type cylinder, was the 3.4 litre DOHC Jaguar straight-6 rated 180 HP SAE at 5750 rpm but most cars were equipped with the engine whose modified cylinder head (B type) and the exhaust valves larger boosted the power of SAE 210 HP at 5500 rpm. Twin 1.75-inch (44 mm) SU carburetors HD6 were equipped.
While the first XK150s were slower than their predecessors, the deficit was corrected in the spring of 1958 with an engine of ' S ' 3.4-litre whose three (51 mm) carburettors SU HD8 2 inch and cylinder head straight port increased power to a claimed 250 HP SAE.
For 1960, the engine of 3.4 litres was bored to 3.8 litres, rating this option at 220 hp (164 kW; 223 PS) in tune or standard 265 horsepower (198 kW; 269 PS) in "S" shaped. To 150S 3.8-litre could reach over 135 mph (217 km / h) and go from 0-60 mph in about 7,0 seconds. The fuel economy was 18mpg. [3] in the four-wheel Dunlop 12-inch (305 mm) disc brakes appeared for the first time although it was theoretically possible to order a car with the battery. When leaving the factory the car wearing initially, both the tires are Dunlop road speed 6.00 in x 16-inch series, or you could specify 185VR16 Pirelli Cinturato CA67 as a radial option on either 16 × 5K½ strong castors (basic models) or 16 × 5K wire wheels.
Production ended in October 1960, and totaled 2.265 Roadsters, 4445 Fixed Head coupes and 2672 Drophead Coupe.

Performance
A 250 BHP 3.4 litre XK150S Fixed-Head Coupé with limited slip differential was tested by the motor in 1959. It had a maximum speed of 132 mph (212 km / h) and can accelerate from 0-60 mph (97 km / h) in 7.8 seconds.
