The Ferrari 328 GTB and GTS (type F106) was the successor to the Ferrari 308 GTB and GTS. Although mechanically still based on the 308 GTB and GTS respectively, are made small modifications to the body style and engine, especially an increase in engine displacement to 3.2 L (3185 cc) to increase the power and torque output. 7.400 328S Ferrari were produced by the time the model was replaced by the new 348 in 1989, bringing the total of the generation 308/328 almost 20,000. The 328 is considered by some enthusiasts of Ferrari to be one of Ferrari's most reliable, unlike some models, most engine maintenance can be performed without lowering the engine from the vehicle.
The GTB referred to the Gran Turismo Berlinetta (coupé body), while the GTS was a Gran Turismo spider (top targa). In 1985, the 328 was sold to the retail $ 58,400- $ 62.500 ($ 126,400- $ 135.300 in 2013 dollars) in the united States.
The model 328 GTS, along with the roof 328 GTB fixed, were the final events of the V8 engine cross series 2 squares of suction normal. Figures 328 in the title model referred to in the capacity-cubic engine, 3.2 litres, and 8 for the number of cylinders. The new model was unveiled at the 1985 Frankfurt Salon alongside the series Mondial 3.2.
Description
In essence, the new model was a revised and updated version of the 308 GTS, which had survived for eight years without any radical change to the overall shape, albeit with several changes in the engine of 3 liters. The model 328 features a softening of the profile of wedge of its predecessor, with a nose reshaped, which had a more rounded shape, which is complemented by a similar treatment panel valance tail. The sections of the nose and tail, revised submitted, bumpers in body color integral with the panels of the valance, which reflected the work done at the same time to present the models Mondial 3.2, with whom he also shared a radiator grille similar and the whole design of the front light. So, all cars eight-cylinder of the range share aspects front enough and unified, providing a picture of family homogeneous. The cooling output of air behind the sheaths of the headlights shrink in the range of 308 to be missing, along with an increase in the size of the louver of the air outlet of the radiator front cover, which was introduced in the models 308 Cuatroválvulas, while a new style and position of exterior door was Also provided to capture. The interior trim also had a thorough review, with new designs for the upholstery panel of the seat and the stitching, door panels, revised and pull handles, along with most of switching to modern, to complement the details of the update external. Optional equipment available was air conditioning, metallic paint, tires Pirelli P7, a dashboard, leather headlining leather panel, removable roof, more wraparound rear window, and an aerodynamic profile rear (standard on models for the japanese market).
To the middle of 1988 ABS brakes were made available as an option, which made necessary a new design of the suspension geometry to provide negative displacement. This in turn means that the design of the wheels of the route was changed to accommodate this feature. The original floor, spoke wheels "star" became a convex design, in the style that mounts on the models 3.2 Mondial, if ABS was fitted or not.
The main 328 european models GTS market had a tubular chassis with a reference type of factory F 106 MS 100. Disc brakes, with independent suspension via wishbones, coil springs and hydraulic shock absorbers, were provided all with the bars rear roll against the front and . There were several models in the global market, each with slight differences, with the right-hand and left-hand available.
The V8 engine was essentially of the same design as that used in the model Cuatroválvulas 308, with an increase in capacity to 3185 cc, with a bore and stroke of 83 mm (3,3 in) x 73,6 mm (2,9 in), and a type reference Number F 105 CB 000. The engine maintains the fuel injection system Bosch K-Jetronic from its predecessor, but was fitted with a Marelli MED 806 A electronic ignition system, to produce a power of 270 HP claimed (201 kW; 274 PS ) at 7000 rpm. As with the previous models 308, the engine was mounted in unit with the All synchromesh five-speed manual transmission assembly, which was below, and in the rear of the engine crankcase.
A minor problem was the hose from the oil of the bottom of the engine to the oil cooler. This was too short since a running engine is moved to separate from the oil cooler. This hose was to be almost solid under pressure and at the time that the oil cooler would break. This is resolved through the connection of the oil hoses from the oil cooler to and from the engine "upside down" to make the lower hose now connects to the top of the oil cooler, longer and mobile.
The 328 GTS continued in production for four years, until its replacement by the model 348 ts in the fall of 1989, during which 6068 examples were produced in the range of numbers of chassis of 59.301 to 83.136, production SMT outnumbering the GTB (1344 produced) version almost five to one. The first part of the series was numbered in the sequence the car chassis road odd number of Ferrari, and later examples (post chassis number 75000) in the numerical sequence continues.

Predecessor | Ferrari 208 GTB |
In 1986 Ferrari launched a two-liter, turbocharged and intercooled variant of the 328, designated simply GTB Turbo and Turbo GTS. It replaced the 208 GTB / GTS Turbo. This version was developed specifically for the domestic Italian market, where cars with an engine capacity of more than 2 litres as the 328 were subject to a 38% value-added tax, from the normal 18%.
The turbo Type F106 N 000 V8 evolved engine, the 208 Turbo, mainly by the addition of an intercooler and the adoption of a new turbocharger. The displacement remained unchanged, 1.991 cc, with a bore by stroke of for 66.8 mm (2.6") x 71 mm (2,8 in); had four overhead camshafts driving two valves per cylinder, Bosch K-Jetronic mechanical fuel injection was made over from the 208. Whereas 208 Turbo's had used a turbocharger KKK, these new 328-based cars used a water-cooled IHI unit running at 1,05 bars (to 15.2 psi) of boost of charge-air is cooled by an intercooler Behr air-to-air mounted in the top of the engine. The production was 254 HP (187 kW, 251 HP) at 6500 rpm and 328 Nm (242 lb · walk) @ 4100 rpm; maximum torque is achieved at engine speeds 700 rpm lower than in the 208 Turbo , making the engine more flexible.
Besides the engine, the differences between the two-liter Turbo 328 and regular were minimal. To accommodate the intercooler top mounting requires an engine cover redesigned, as well as conduits and outlets NACA (located just in front of each rear wheel arch) to feed with fresh air. The rear bumper sported five ventilation holes. A roof spoiler black, optional on the 328, it was standard; within a meter of boost pressure was introduced into the box of instruments.
In accordance with the speed top manufacturer was 253 km / h (157 mph) and 0-100 km / h (0-62 mph) took 6.3 seconds. In June 1986 Italian magazine auto Quattroruote published a comparison test between a 328 GTS and a GTS Turbo. Despite the differences between the most powerful of the old 48-atmosphere valve of the engine and the second torquier but peakier engine-turbo, 24-valve, the performance was found to be very similar in both acceleration and top speed. The Turbo ran from 0 to 100 km / h in 6,6 seconds (a tenth of a second behind the 328), and covered the mile distance in 24.6 seconds, two tenths behind the 328. Quattroruote clocked a top speed of 251 km / h (156 mph).
During the period of production between 1986 and 1989 made Ferrari 308 GTB Turbos and 828 GTS Turbos.
