Mercedes SL 500 1989-2001

The Mercedes SL 500 is a car complex technically and that you can always be a source of problems, but the build quality was the best at that time. The way you have aged the drive that we show in this article is seen very few times in a car with this age. Their dynamic qualities were outstanding, with that fidelity of trajectory in roads fast that distinguished the Mercedes-Benz of any other model. It was heavy and didn't have a suspension, but he was not without agility. The engine gave a push intense and uniform. Yes, spent fuel, but less than other cars of power and similar weight. In addition to this recommended SL 500 V8 seem to me equally interesting versions with engine inline six-cylinder and 24 valves. Takes a bow safety that can be deployed manually.

The SL 500 had three V8 engines. The first two are cylinder heads, four valves per cylinder and are distinguished because the first (1989-1992) made 326 HP at 5,500 rpm and 450 Nm and the second (1992-1998), 6 HP less and 20 Nm more. The third (1998-2001) is the least satisfactory, three-valve-per-cylinder and 306 HP Mercedes-Benz developed to meet more easily the rules of emissions. In general it is a durable engine, there is not that frightening because the unit pass 200,000 km, provided that the record is good. In addition to the normal inspection of a motor, it should look at the pressure gauge of oil, which should be marked 3 kg/cm2, and between 1.5 and 2 in warmed up and running without much load. If low there is a bad signal, the least that can happen is a failure of the sensor, which is coupled to the filter.
